Koei Tecmo and Gust just locked in February 25, 2027 as the launch date for *Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom & the Guide of Memories* across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC via Steam, making the amnesiac adventurer Karia the latest face of the long-running alchemy RPG series. Set two years after *Atelier Yumia*, the story follows Karia—a member of the Aladiss Pioneering Team with the bizarre ability to eat and analyze nearly anything—as she stumbles into an underground world called Subterranea while investigating ruins alongside researcher Servio, triggering her first encounter with alchemy amid a spreading “mana withering” phenomenon. Official materials emphasize a “vast fantasy alchemy RPG of memories and discovery,” with Karia using her unique trait to unlock field actions, style changes that alter combat skills, and clues to her forgotten past through Echo Crystals.
The title expands the previous game’s real-time combat with parrying, countering, charge skills requiring timing, friend assists, and dual attacks while overhauling synthesis around mana pieces and lines that players connect to modify item properties, plus item rebuilding for stat boosts and new recipes unlocked through conditions. Players will also design and develop bases in each region for bonuses, tying gathering, synthesis, eating ingredients for abilities, and exploration into one loop. Editions include a Japan-exclusive Premium Box at 13,530 yen (art book, music tracks, nine water-repellent posters, and an early costume code) and a pricier Special Premium Box at 23,650 yen; a Digital Deluxe Edition is still TBA.
This announcement lands amid ongoing fan discussions about the series’ evolution under newer developers, with the official site and recent trailers highlighting Karia’s omnivorous gimmick and the massive cavern ecosystem beneath Aladiss. While the multi-platform push to Switch 2 and Xbox broadens reach, the core appeal remains Gust’s signature blend of quirky protagonists, item-crafting systems, and uncovering personal mysteries alongside ancient legends.
