Deep Field Games just confirmed what indie survival fans have been waiting for: official mod support landing in Community Update 5, stretching the Half-Life-inspired co-op game well into 2027.

The free "Modding Update" bundles a standalone Mod Editor, an in-game mod browser powered by mod.io, and automatic client syncing for modded sessions. Moddable elements include items, weapons, gear, pets, enemies, and more, with support confirmed across PC, Xbox, and PS5. Community Update 5 also adds a "foggy friend" pet, multi-quest journal upgrades, and balance tweaks drawn from player feedback. The roadmap then lines up a smaller Winter Update with tree-growing plots, a brewing bench, and festive recipes before the paid Entropic Break DLC hits in Q1 2027, shifting science-team survival to tropical Leaf Test Facility sands complete with new enemies, sidequests, boats, fishing, and portal worlds.

Current Nexus Mods scene already boasts roughly 250 unofficial entries, but Deep Field's FAQ stresses those will likely break on the official system. The developer is splitting teams so Entropic Break doesn't stall, yet the mod push signals a longer runway than most post-1.0 indies manage. Players on X and Steam threads are already celebrating the longevity play, with some hoping for map mods despite developer notes calling full new sectors too complex for launch.

This is the kind of sustained support that separates flash-in-the-pan survival games from the ones still running dedicated servers two years out.
